ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hans Manfred Dix-Thaesler was born on September 24, 1985, in the town of Hemmenhofen, Gaienhofen, to Luther Dix-Thaesler and Liese Katz. His grandmother was Nelly Dix, daughter of the painter Otto Dix, although she died before he was born. He had two brothers, Rupert and Severin.
Hans had by all means a happy childhood, and took an interest in painting from a young age. Luther, himself a painter by trade, took the boy under his wing and taught him as an apprentice. His skills developed quickly, and his paintings were soon exhibited in the local church, St Agatha.
However, in adulthood Hans fell in with bad company and began to frequent bars, drinking heavily, visiting prostitutes and getting into fights, as well as robbing tourists. His family grew restless, and tensions came to a head when Hans, heavily inebriated, came home with a dead cat, and smeared its entrails over the wall in an attempt to make a portrait of a prostitute he fancied.
Incensed, his family threw him on the street and promptly disowned him – hence why he changed his last name from Dix-Thaesler to the similar-sounding Amsler. Never one to be kept down, Hans set about making a living drawing cutesy cat pictures for old ladies. This revolted him so much that he resolved never to draw anything nice ever again.
Today, Hans resides in Rottenbuch, Bavaria, where he regularly harasses the locals by drawing grotesque pictures of them unsolicited. He has lost a few teeth doing this, but is otherwise no worse for wear.
Also, he draws comic books.
REVIEWS
But don‘t take our word for it, folks: Let’s hear what the critical world has to say!
IN THE WORDS OF WRAITH, THE GUITARIST OF THE BLACK METAL BAND ‘LUCIFERIAN STRINGS‘, ON HANS AMSLER’S SEMINAL SLOPJAK PAINTING, ‘JARTYFAIL’:
“Awe-inspiring grotesqueness beyond what I thought possible to be done by human hands that is still legal to have in your possession though perhaps it shouldn’t be. This is an idol to the dark corners of the human mind, to the neo-Baal worshipper of the internet age.
This is a monument to the darkness that dwells in the hearts of men. So powerful in its vileness, it’s utter abhorrence that I can’t help but see it as but at the same time cannot call it art. Crafted meticulously by a 4chan shaman hermit.
A dark psychotic ascetic, who refuses to indulge in hope, human companionship, genuineness or dignity. The kind of person who eats maggots off a rotting corpse to mock a god they don’t believe exists, who produces this iconoclastic atrocity to claim themselves holy.
A brain stroke would be a mercy on them, for theirs is not a life that can be justified or dignified, their continued existence is an insult to the very concept of goodness in this world.”
IN THE WORDS OF TMH, PASTOR OF THE GAMER CHURCH, ON HANS AMSLER’S AWARD-WINNING COMIC SERIES, THE CHEESED TO MEET YOU MOUSE:
“It’s about a-a-a (sighs) a sort of despicable… character, The Cheesed To Meet You Mouse, he… he’s the owner of a… a brap farm? He has several Brap Hogs which he.. milks for.. farts, or just, I don’t know what the term would be for milking a fart, like…. I dunno.”
“Well, this is a really gross, disgusting comic, with lots of horrible… uhhh.. at the very least questionable things happening.”
AND ON THE MAN HIMSELF:
“Hans Amsler (is) a very well regarded German author, a… Philosopher! …of some sort.”
IN THE WORDS OF A C-SUITE EXECUTIVE, ON HANS AMSLER:
“From the moment I met Hans I knew he was going to manifest a dominion over all things that pass air. A philosopher God-King cannot dream nor hope to achieve a morsel to the feast of advancements in his future. I would vote for him. You should too.”
